Magnesium, along with small traces of manganese and chromium, is present in aluminum alloy 5083. The strength of 5083 remains impressive even after welding. It is worth mentioning that among the non-heat treatable alloys, 5083 plate possesses the highest strength. However, caution should be exercised when utilizing it above a temperature of 65°C.
